The Ruby Bridges Foundation
The Problem We All Live With
On November 14, 1960, six-year-old Ruby Bridges desegregated William Frantz Public School in New Orleans, marking the first elementary school integration in the Deep South. Ruby Bridges’ walk into school was famously depicted in Norman Rockwell’s “The Problem We All Live With” — a work of art that remains an iconic image of the Civil Rights Movement.
Ragusa helped Ms. Bridges and the Ruby Bridges Foundation receive national recognition with an award-winning PR strategy. Perhaps most notably, Ragusa coordinated the hanging of the Rockwell in the White House and the historic visit between Ms. Bridges and then-President Barack Obama. Ragusa was named a finalist in PR News’ 2012 Nonprofit PR Award in Media Relations on behalf of the Foundation.
