HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA TO VISIT NEW ORLEANS THIS WEEK
Numerous Opportunities for Public Involvement

New Orleans, La. (May 13, 2013) – After years of preparation and months of celebration, New Orleans is ready to receive His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama this week.

Featured events surrounding this historic visit begin with the Opening Ceremony of the creation of a Sand Mandala on Tuesday at Noon CST at the Morial Convention Center in Hall G. The free event is open to the public. Tibetan Buddhist monks will chant and play instruments prior to beginning work on the Sand Mandala.

1:00 p.m. – 3:35 p.m. — Live Stream Online of Public Talk Strength Through Connection by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The talks will be shown at various locations across the city. See www.dalailamanola.com for locations and details. (Viewing Live Stream is Free & Open to the Public)

11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. — Tibetan Cultural Center at UNO Lakefront Arena (Public Talk Ticket Required)

SECURITY AT EVENTS

All guests will be required to walk through magnetometers before entering the venues. Guests with special needs (wheel chairs, walkers, canes, pacemakers, O2 bottles, etc.) will have access to a security station to meet their needs.

The doors to New Orleans Theater will open at 11:00AM and close at 1:00PM.  The doors at the UNO Arena will open at 11:00AM and close at 1:00PM. GUESTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENTER ONCE DOORS ARE CLOSED.

Guests who have prohibited items must leave the line and take prohibited property back to their car, home, or office and return to the back of the line or discard the prohibited item in the garbage receptacles provided
