Todd Ragusa’s experience conceptualizing and managing highly successful campaigns has earned him a reputation as one of the top public relations strategists in the U.S. Gulf Coast. Ragusa has a depth of experience in external communications, managing several nationally award-winning campaigns for state agencies, political campaigns, corporations, and large institutions. He has been responsible for achieving hundreds of millions of targeted media impressions, including features in top-tier media outlets such as BBC, CNN, PBS, Newsweek, Forbes, The Atlantic, The New York Times, and USA Today. He has written for a number of high-profile individuals, including First Lady Laura Bush, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark, and U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin.
He has produced events and conferences, including the World Cultural Economic Forum, which gathered representatives from more than 50 foreign delegations to share best practices and discuss cultural and economic issues.
Ragusa is skilled at leveraging scenarios and seizing opportunities to make news, such as hosting media roundtables at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell to capture the attention of visiting journalists. Amongst his more notable successes, Ragusa was contracted to serve as director of communications for the transition team of then New Orleans Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu. In addition to messaging and media relations, Ragusa united diverse constituencies by organizing more than a dozen well-attended community meetings.
He heads national campaigns for a number of recognizable brands, and he manages in-state operations in Louisiana for national campaigns, such as the Climate Action Committee and the Campaign to Fix the Debt. Ragusa has managed a number of statewide and regional campaigns through his work for governmental and nongovernmental agencies, which have included whistle-stop tours, media familiarization tours, community meetings, and satellite media tours.
Ragusa also handles crisis communications and litigation PR for public, private, and nonprofit entities; and he is currently providing counsel on a variety of confidential projects. He has been nationally recognized for his outstanding success in managing crisis situations.
Prior to founding Ragusa Consulting in 2010, Ragusa oversaw operations in the New Orleans office of Marmillion + Company, a boutique PR agency that manages the AMERICA’S WETLAND campaign.
He holds a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola University New Orleans. He is a Fellow of the Loyola University Institute of Politics in New Orleans.
