Don M. Richard and Michael DeShazo Join New Orleans Law Firm
NEW ORLEANS – Kinney, Ellinghausen, Richard & DeShazo is pleased to announce Don M. Richard and Michael DeShazo as a new partners at the law firm.
About Don M. Richard
Bringing over four decades of experience with him, Richard is primarily a litigator with experience in antitrust, commercial litigation, personal injury, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, criminal law, and appellate practice. Over the course of his legal career, Richard has been lead counsel in more than 180 jury trials.
“Don Richard has a distinguished reputation as a litigator, and his vast legal experience will be a great addition to our team,” said Henry Kinney, founding partner of Kinney Ellinghausen.
Prior to joining Kinney Ellinghausen, Richard was law clerk to United States District Chief Judge Frederick J.R. Heebe from 1968-1970. Thereafter he served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the criminal division from 1970-1977. In 1977, he entered private law practice as a partner with Lemle Kelleher and subsequently at two other firms. Richard has extensive trial and appellate experience in all of Louisiana’s courts, including the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Richard is also a frequent lecturer at the Bar Association for the Fifth Federal Circuit Appellate Advocacy Seminar and the recipient of the highest ranking awarded by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
Richard received his undergraduate degree from St. Joseph Seminary College in 1963 and his law degree from Loyola University in 1968, where he was an Associate Editor of the Loyola Law Review.
About Michael DeShazo
DeShazo joined the firm as an associate in 2005, and since that time he has become an experienced litigator, focusing on antitrust, employment discrimination, environmental law, personal injury, public bidding and general commercial litigation.

In addition to his trial practice, DeShazo has extensive appellate experience, having handled numerous matters before Louisiana’s appellate courts, including the United States Court of Appeal for the Fifth Circuit.
DeShazo publishes regularly. He is also a member of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit.
DeShazo received his law degree in 2005 from Louisiana State University, after serving on the Board of Editors of the Louisiana Law Review.
